Dutch Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) sails into St. Anna Bay:
This legendary Dutch patriarch sails into St. Anna Bay, supposedly from Spain, with his white horse and entourage of helpers, all named Zwarte Piet (goblin). Families gather in Otrobanda where a festival atmosphere prevails.

Eight weeks of Carnival festivities begin with a full program of activities in Willemstad, highlighted by revelers, in last year's costumes, dancing in the streets. For more information please contact us at info@curacao.com.

Carnival Jump-Ups
Weekend street dances and parties, called "jump- ups" sponsored by local organizations, are held weekly through the end of Carnival. There are two or three 'jump-ups' every evening all over the island, including on both quarters of Willemstad on both sides of St. Ana bay and at Banda Bou, the scenic western part of the island.

Curaçao Regatta 2007
This annual event is one of the largest in its kind for the Caribbean. The 24th edition of the Curaçao regatta will not only host the traditional classes like Yachts, Flashes and off course Catamarans, but also this year the South-American & Caribbean Championships in the Sunfish Class. Carnival Parade at Banda Bou
In the scenic countryside of the western part of the island a full day of revelry takes place in the streets of Banda Bou villages.

Horse parade
The horse parade is a special attraction for those who are drawn to nature and love to see the beautifully decked horses gracefully prancing in the streets with their riders dressed up to match the occasion. All the riding schools and private horse owners participate to show off their animals and their skills.

Grand Carnival Parade
Gran Marcha (The Grand Parade), on February 18, is the highlight of the Carnival Season, when thousand of participants in many groups show their fantastic costumes and floats, dance and strut to the music of the Road March. Along the 10-km route tens of thousands spectators dance, jump, drink and outdo themselves in the wildest expressions of joy, as this culmination of the carnival season meanders through the streets of historic Otrobanda.

On this official holiday the kids have the chance to show off their Carnival finery one last time.

Farewel Grand parade
The Carnival season closes with one last parade. The nighttime March has a special magic and floats are festooned with sparkling lights. At midnight King Momo is burned in effigy, as legend requires, pleasing the gods.

Size: 38 miles long and from 2 to 7.5 miles wide

Location: 35 miles north of Venezuela, 42 miles east of Aruba and only 2 1/2 hours by air from Miami

Climate: tropical; ameliorated by northeast trade winds

Currency: Netherlands Antilles Guilder (Florin)

Driving: Driving is on the right side of the road.
