Scuba Diving
The
name, Panama, literally means "the place of abundant
fish" and the relatively few folks who have dived
in the Republic of Panama will gladly testify that the
name is well-deserved. With over 250 species of reef and
game fish, over 50 different types of coral, plus tons
of turtles, sharks, rays, and invertebrates, Panama boasts
some of the best diving in the world--dive the Pacific
one-day and the Caribbean the next. It is only a short
one-hour, scenic vehicle ride. The fact that few people
know about it only enhances the diving experience for
those who do. Instead of hordes of divers swarming on
exhausted dive sites, you will find vibrant coral reefs
where schools of large fish still react to divers more
out of curiosity than fear.
The dive sites themselves vary greatly, offering a spectacular
array of different underwater topographical features including
pinnacles, fringing reefs, As if that weren’t enough,
you can find wrecks ranging in age all the way back to
the 16th century littered about as well as a whole host
of pinnacles, caverns, caves, and other gorgeous underwater
topographical features. There is an abundance of virgin
dive sites suitable for divers of every level and every
special interest.
