Getting Married in Paradise


Getting Married in St. Vincent and the GrenadinesSt. Vincent and the Grenadines offer a beautiful and romantic setting for your wedding and honeymoon. Getting married here is relatively easy and can be accommplished during your vacation.

Non-Vincentians wishing to be married in St. Vincent and the Grenadines must be resident here for at least one day before a marriage ceremony (civil or church) can be obtained from the Ministry of Justice for a minimal fee. This License is valid for three months only.

An ordinary license can be obtained from the Registrar's Office for a small fee, but notice of the ceremony must be published in the Registry for a minimum of seven days.

Marriage Requirements

Documentation requirements for marriage are:

  • Passport
  • Divorce Decree (if applicable)
  • Death Certificate of deceased partner (if applicable)
  • Application fee for marriage license is EC $500.00 (US $185)


Other additional costs:

  • EC $15.00 (US $5.52) stamps for license
  • EC $5.00 (US $1.84) stamps for application form


Note - Applications cannot be obtained in advance. Parties must reside in the state for one (1) day.

Climate: Tropical; little seasonal temperature variation; rainy season (May to November)

Electricity: St. Vincent and the Grenadines has a reliable supply of electricity. Electricity is generally 220/240 volt, 50 cycle, except for Petit St. Vincent which has 110 volt, 60 cycle. Most hotels have 110 volt shaver outlets. The standard electrical plug has 3 rectangular pins so remember to pack an adapter.

Currency: East Caribbean dollar (XCD)

Driving: A temporary driving licence, costing EC$50, must be purchased at the police station on Bay Street, or the Licensing Authority on Halifax Street, with the presentation of a valid overseas driver’s licence. If you have an International Driving Permit you must get it stamped at the central police station.

Rentals: There are several major companies available available at the airport, plus many smaller local rental companies.
